My Thoughts on my Peloton Usage August 13, 2019

Image
I've realize that I've been kind of puttering about when it comes to my exercise. So I decided that I would try to ramp up the Peloton bike riding. Now, I regularly do the scenic bike rides on the Peloton. I like them. But I find that they are limited in terms of discipline. What do I mean by that? The scenes are timed...and that's it. The rider can change the resistance (pressure) and cadence (speed of cycling) at any time but there are no cues as to when to do so. The classes are a bit more disciplined since the instructor continually tells the rider the ranges of the ride they are giving, in terms of resistance and cadence. In following their cues, you find that you have a much more intensive workout than just pedaling to a scenic video. Again, I like the scenic rides and will continue to ride them but I will just do them when I want to get my time on the bike. But I want to start using the classes a bit more for a more diverse workout. Today I did a five minute w...

Tuesday Thoughts By Coach Vince Lombardi September 18, 2018

Image
Its like the saying by Norman Vincent Peale states: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars,” Perfection is unattainable. But if we do chase perfection, we can catch excellence. Never stop striving to the best that you can be. Never stop chasing the dream. Never quit. Coach Lombardi was a master motivator and educator. He coached football and taught at Fordham University and at U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Afterwards, Lombardi would coach in the NFL as the Offensive coordinator with the New York Giants and the Head Coach of the Green Bay Packers and later the Washington Redskins. Coach Lombardi's quotes are legendary. Give him a read at the Quotes page of the official Vince Lombardi w ebsite . Just wanted to give you guys and gals some inspiration thus Sunday morning in the form of @fatgirlfedup When you reach the point that you feel you can't do whatever it is you want to accomplish, take a look at her story: "Same girl & gym but 312lbs 👇 on my own. No shortcuts, no secrets, no meal plan, no trainer, no surgery, no magic pill - just hard work. It was worth all the blood, sweat, and tears. It's worth all the sacrifices, early mornings, late nights, struggles, & the trade offs. Losing weight isn't easy, but it's always worth it. Let the hard times motivate you and push you towards who you want to be. Start today!" If she can do it, so can you!!! Great job @fatgirlfedup Keep kicking ass and taking names. Quote by Samuel Beckett September 6, 2018

Image
I saw this quote by Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) at the Full Shilling (160 Pearl St #1, New York, NY 10005) and it really stood out to me. We often like to say "If I knew then, what I knew now..." whenever we discuss things that are happening in life, missed moments or pretty much anything. But who we are today is directly made up of those experiences that we had during out "best years," for good or bad. We were built in the forge of youth to be the hardened piece of steel that we are in our middle years. We just need to keep building on those experiences, to adapt, to grow and evolve. Have a great day. Until Then Keep Stepping, #SiscoVanilla #SiscoVanillaIsStepping #SiscoVanillaHitsTheBricks

Always remember this. We never reach perfection nor does the road to success lead to perfection. That road, as we are, is always under construction. As our lives are in flux and ever changing, the road to success is pock marked, bumpy and at some point never been built. The only thing that is set on the road is the road that we've left behind, the road in front of us is wide open and waiting for us to walk it. So get to it. Just watch out for the big pothole. 😏 Have a great day. See you all soon. Until Then Keep Stepping, #SiscoVanilla #SiscoVanillaIsStepping #SiscoVanillaHitsTheBricks

5 Ways to Be More Confident in Your Decisions 💪 From the Success Team August 8, 2018

Image
Opening my email this morning, I came across an email from the Success Team entitled 5 Ways to Be More Confident in Your Decisions 💪. Since I liked the message they were sending me, I wanted to relay it to you fine folks. Here is the email in its entirety.  "Overanalyzing every decision you make is a terrible habit to fall into that we’re all guilty of. If you feel uncertain about choosing, guess what? You’ll just keep thinking about it. The first step is taking control. This week, take advantage of your ability to make better decisions. Instead of overthinking every detail, possibility and outcome, learn when to trust your gut. Don’t Sweat It. This week, cut the small, time-sucking decisions from your routine. Plan your meals and outfits the night before and allow yourself to focus on more important tasks. Two Thoughts For Tuesday August 7, 2018

Image
Today I'm throwing you folks a two-fer for this Tuesday morning. Yes, we are all going through shit in our lives. Sometimes its physical, spiritual, emotional even financial. And these events can be ongoing over a long period of time. I know, if fucking blows. But the key to dealing with these events is to do so while on the right footing. To be positive and try to change our circumstances requires not only the effort of ones actions, the proverbial and actual blood, sweat and tears, but also the power of positive thinking. If you start the day with negative thoughts, all you are going to do is carry that negativity around like a heavy anchor. Shit happens. Combat it with positivity. Start your day with a positive thought, a positive affirmation or a method of positive reinforcement. Give yourself the chance to tackle the day head on. Doing so in a negative fashion only dooms your to failure and further negativity. Give it a try. Let me know how it works for you. Have a gre...

Sunday Salutations August 5, 2018

I love this saying that is attributed to Osho (I say attributed since I can't definitively say that Osho said it.) Life isn't one sided, no matter how good or bad we feel. There is the good AND the bad. In order to become a full, well rounded and balanced individual, we need to experience both sides of the duality of life. The saying is absolutely accurate in that we do need to not only have experiences, but we can't fear having experiences. Its like it was when we were children. We took tentative first steps and we either fell on our faces or fell flat on our asses. What did we do? Maybe we cried, maybe we laughed but regardless of what we did, we got back up and tried again. That is how we learned to walk. It is that adversity and learning from said adversity that makes us who we are. If you are off on this Sunday, go out there, trip, fall, scrape your knee, get back up, do it again. I'll be here at work slinging coffee. Come on by and get yourself a cup. I...

New Blog and New Adventures

Image
For those of you who follow my other blogs SiscoVanilla Serves and Drinks , BaseballSisco and Observations and Rants of a Native New Yorker ....WELCOME!!!! For those of you who are new here either on purpose or at random, WELCOME as well!!!! Here is some info on where I am and where I am going with this blogpage. So who am I? Well, simply put, I'm just a regular dude who in February 2017 got tired of feeling like shit and decided to do something about it. What did I do? I bought a Fitbit Blaze and just started walking. How did that work out? In the year and four months since using the FitBit Blaze, I've lost a maximum of 30 lbs. Now here lies the problem. What problem is that? While I've made tremendous strides from my initial weight of 276 lbs, I've gotten stuck at around the 255-260 lb mark. I need to pass this plateau that I seem to be mired on. The walking has gotten monotonous. I do it but there's no sense of adventure with my stepping. S...
