Snacking at the Bar Part I October 6, 2018

I have regulars at the bar that comment that I always seem to be snacking while at the bar. It's true. During a minimum 10-hour shift (sometimes 12-hours) I do tend to snack often. Hey it takes a lot to power this engine of mine. This is even more so since I'm on my feet the WHOLE ENTIRE time, going back and forth behind the bar. It gets extreme when I have to go up and down to the keg room to change kegs or get beers from the walk in. Add to that, if I'm busy, I can't just sit down and have a meal. So I have to make due however I can. I usually stock my work bag with a variety of nut bars, granola bars and other snacks such as those of the Orchard Valley Harvest brand. Don't know the Orchard Valley Harvest brand? Well, let's let them speak for themselves: When you enjoy Orchard Valley Harvest nuts, dried fruits and mixes, you never have to worry about artificial ingredients or genetically modified organisms because every pack is Non-GMO Project Ver...

Halo Top Ice Cream July 16, 2018

If any of you truly know we, you know that ice cream is my krypronite. I can kill a container in a sit down. Especially it is partially melted. 😍😍😍 For a while now I've been recommended to try the Halo Top line of ice creams. But until now I wasn't able to find them in my area. A few weeks a new Shop Rite opened in my neighborhood and they had the good old Halo Top on sale. Guess who picked some up: This guy right here. Actually, I bought some twice. I know, you must think I'm such an oinker 🐷🐷🐷, but in my defense, they gave me a $1.50 off of five coupon plus iBotta had a $.75 rebate for up to five Halo Top ice creams purchased. Never heard of iBotta ? I recommend that you read the posts Three Apps to Help Save Money Through Shopping from September 26, 2016  and Update on the Three Apps to Help Save Money Through Shopping from October 15, 2016  from an older blog of mine entitled Observations and Rants of a Native New Yorker . It's been a while since I'...

What I Have to Deal With at Work June 11, 2018

What's up peeps. For those of you who don't know me personally, I have two jobs: Bartender at a bar in Brooklyn. You can read more about that here: SiscoVanilla Serves and Drinks   Café Manager at a chain bookstore café. Unlike other chain coffee shops that have all their food shipped in boxes and plopped on display plates without any in store baking, we bake our pastries and cookies. Plus we have cheesecakes and other desserts that we sell, which as you all can imagine makes for a tough go when one is trying to lose weight. Here, take a look at what my team and I have to maintain daily: This doesn't even include the super sweet hot and cold drinks that we serve. Luckily for me I don't give a flying fig about those. I have my coffee or espresso with one packet of Sugar in the Raw Turbinado Sugar and a little Half and Half, Soy Milk or Almond Coconut Milk blend. But back to the snacks. The smell that permeates the café when taking out a freshly bak...
