Infused Organic Iced White Tea with Strawberries and Mint June 26, 2018

Hey peeps, I'm back with another infusion for your drinking pleasure. As I did with my post Infused Organic Iced Mango Green Tea With Mint and Lime June 22, 2018, I've decided to take Organic White Tea and infuse it with Strawberries and Mint for a hopefully refreshing drink. Before I go into the drink, I wanted to delve a bit into the health benefits of each ingredient.

I have been a coffee drinker for a very long time. Now, I'm not trying to give up drinking my cuppa joe, but I'm trying to look into different things to drink. Organic White Tea is something that is new to me. What health benefits does White Tea provide? According to the article 10 Amazing Benefits of White Tea from the Organic Facts website:

Health benefits of white tea include a reduced risk of cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and an improvement in oral health. It has antioxidant and anti-aging properties which help in maintaining good health and wrinkle-free skin. It protects the skin from harmful effects of UV rays. With its antibacterial properties, white tea also protects the body from various infection-causing bacteria.

It provides relief to diabetics from symptoms such as decreased plasma glucose levels, increased insulin secretion, and excessive thirst (polydipsia). Intake of white tea also helps in losing weight.

That's what I'm talking about!!! In terms of Strawberries, I stay with the Organic Facts website with their post 18 Surprising Benefits of Strawberry:

The amazing health benefits of strawberry include improved eye care, proper brain function, relief from high blood pressure, arthritis, gout, and various cardiovascular diseases. The polyphenolic and antioxidant content of strawberries makes them beneficial for improving the immune system, preventing various types of cancers, and for reducing the signs of premature aging. Strawberries are packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamins C and K, folate, potassium, manganese, and magnesium. They are low-calorie, fiber-rich fruits, which are abundant in antioxidants and polyphenols [1] . A cup of [2] strawberries contains only 49 calories, provides 3g of fiber, and 12g of carbohydrates.

Yeah Man!!!! In terms of mint, again I stay with Organic Facts website with their post 13 Impressive Benefits of Mint:

Mint, the popular herb, has several benefits which include proper digestion and weight loss, relief from nausea, depression, fatigue, and headache. It is used in the treatment of asthma, memory loss, and skin care problems. This well-known mouth and breath freshener is scientifically known as Mentha and has more than two dozen species and hundreds of varieties. It is an herb that has been used for hundreds of years for its remarkable medicinal properties.

Wow. That's three chock full of goodness ingredients right there. Now on to the Iced Tea.

Here is how I made it:
  • 3 Touch Organic White Tea Bags
  • 1/2 cup of Frozen Strawberries
  • 1 stalk worth of Mint leaves
  • 20oz of Hot Water
Like my Organic Iced Mango Green Tea with Mint and Lime, I made the iced tea in a glass carafe. I poured the hot water over the tea bags with the mint leaves in the carafe and let it steep. I didn't really time how long it steeped before I added the strawberries. I then let it sit overnight on the counter before topping it off with cold water and placing it in the refrigerator.

The iced tea has a beautiful light red color thanks to the Strawberries. In terms of flavor, the iced tea has a very light flavor which is dominated by the strawberry flavor that was infused. The mint flavor is very subtle and you could taste it on the back end.. I like it and highly recommend making your own version.

What kind of iced teas do you like to make. Give me a recommendation. Would love to make some new teas. Drop me a line in the comment box.

Until Then Happy Stepping,
